The winter transfer market is always a period of feverish rumour and potential major transfers. A number of prominent stars find themselves linked with moves out of their current teams. This article explores a selection of the key names that could be on the move in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the forward available, indications are a major move is close. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a deal featuring a sizeable release clause applicable for a two-week window in early January. Recent developments suggest the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his services. Former suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have turned their attention to other targets, leaving clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a late move.

M. Guéhi

This English centre-back has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a summer move to Liverpool collapsing. As his deal set to expire in the summer, January is the London club's final opportunity to secure a fee for their skipper. A host of top clubs, including City and multiple continental powerhouses including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. However, a January exit is considered unlikely, especially given the manager's dependence on the player.

Brennan Johnson

The Wales winger has had first-team opportunities limited at Tottenham this campaign. Despite being the side's top scorer the previous campaign, Johnson has begun just a handful of league matches. Reports suggest the London club is open to a transfer for the correct price, believed to be in the around £40 million. The Cherries are currently at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an inquiry.

R. Neves

The Portuguese midfielder could be poised for a comeback to the Premier League after a spell in Saudi Arabia. Now only 28, and with his agreement ending in the summer, he represents a possible opportunity. Teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there are suggestions from Spain that he would be willing to take a pay cut for a switch to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

This veteran Germany shot-stopper is now as third-choice at Barcelona following new manager Flick. After lost his place and undergone an operation, a winter departure seems highly probable. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a potential suitor, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be expressing interest in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

This prolific England centre-forward has continued scoring frequently in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League might enhance his fading chances of being in the England squad.
